5 Powerful Groups In Yorubaland And Their Views On Igboho’s Secession Agitation
- Two days ago, Igboho joined other agitators at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to demand the Yoruba Nation.
- Present at the rally to maintain law and orderliness were operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Amotekun.
Popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo who is also known as Sunday Igboho while speaking at the mega rally demanded the release of operatives of the Oodua Peoples Congress who were detained for arresting notorious Fulani herder, Iskilu Wakili, in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State.

(1.) Egbe Afenifere
The Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere some months ago disclosed that the group is not opposed to the calls for the actualisation of Oduduwa Republic by activist, Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the national leader of the organisation in a chat with a notable newspaper revealed that the only thing that can stop Yorubas from pulling out of the Federal Republic is if President Muhammadu Buhari takes urgent steps to restructure the country and give the people an acceptable constitution.
He ascertained that the group does not oppose Igboho because he is speaking the minds of youths and masses of the country. He also noted that as elders, they have been appealing to the youths to hold on and see if President Buhari will listen to the voice of reason by restructuring the country.
(2.) Egbe Agbekoya
Agbekoya Farmers Society of Nigeria some months ago backed the order demanding the quit notice given by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to Fulani herders inside Ondo State forest reserves.
The association also warned that no harm must come to Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemi in the Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The association kicked against the Inspector-General of Police order to arrest and bring Sunday Adeyemi Igboho to Abuja, describing the order as being biased.
Agbekoya disclosed that the group is against the arrest of Sunday Adeyemi Igboho, who is defending his people, the Ibarapa sons, and daughters from being killed by armed Fulani herdsmen, kidnappers, and bandits.

(3.) Egbe Yoruba Ronu
Some months ago, The President of Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum, Mr. Akin Malaolu, asserted that the people have a right to secure their communities.
The group encourages the presidency and governors to partner with the likes of Igboho to encourage community participation in security to improve security conditions in the Southwest and all over Nigeria.
(4. ) Oduduwa Peoples Congress (OPC)
Some months ago, the National Publicity Secretary of the New Era faction of the Odua People’s Congress, Akinpelu Adesina, decried the attempt by the joint team of security operatives to arrest Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, saying the attack was wrong and unwarranted.
Reacting to the attempted arrest, OPC chieftain, Akinpelu Adesina questioned that on what ground would the arrest of Sunday Igboho be while the killer herders who are wielding dangerous weapons, kidnapping, maiming will still walk free?
(5.) The Yoruba World Congress
The leader of the Yoruba World Congress, Professor Banji Akintoye some months ago urged all Yoruba Patriots to work together with him and Sunday Igboho for the independence of the Yoruba nation. He also warned the youths not to involve violence in a bid to achieve the Oduduwa Republic but should embrace peaceful deliberations.
