- The story of His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe is compelling and profound one. One of tenacity, resilience, foresightedness and vision.
The hallowed office of a traditional ruler is not only for consolidation of age-long dynasties but also for the preservation of our time-proven customs and traditions. This is why the attainment of such exalted position comes with much responsibility as articulated in accustomed parlance that “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.”
Besides descending from the bloodline of monarchy, a significant level of self-awareness and thoughtfulness must be shown by a heir and prospective king. Such character must be forthright, honourable, selfless and uncompromising.
This aforementioned attribute is a sine-qua-non for any would-be king, and the possession of these and more by ORA AKEEM OLUSAYO KING OGUNGBANGBE; rpa, FDM AJAGBUSI-EKUN, OWALOKO OF ILOKO-IJESA is what adequately qualifies him for his imminent role as a custodian of ancestral norms and traditions.
It would not be impertinent to mention here that dignitaries from different walks of life would converge at the venue to witness the historic installation of Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, and blare his name as the Ajagbusi Ekun VI Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa.
The coronation ceremony will hold on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Osowusi Muslim Commercial High School., and will play host to first-class dignitaries drawn across the length and breadth of Osun State and beyond, including his excellency, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who will be presenting the staff of office to the new Oba.
According to Alhaja Sherrygold, a member of the event planning committee, preparations and arrangements are already in the offing to ensure hitchfree, memorable coronation ceremony come Saturday.
In the build-up to the main event, beginning from a 3 day jumaat prayers held at the Royal Palace. Efforts have also been upped to beef up security and also contain COVID-19 through a health campaign tagged “operation know your health status.”

Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe was elected on Wednesday 26th of August, 2015 as The Ajagbusi — Ekun, Owaloko of Iloko-ljesa.
His appointment and election as the Owaloko of lloko-ljesa was confirmed by the Osun State Executive Council under the able leadership of ALHAJI ISIAKA ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA on 19th of April, 2021.
Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe traditional rites commenced on 5th of May, 2021 and he mounted the throne after the completion of the traditional rites on 13th of May, 2021 as the OWALOKO OF ILOKO — IJESA.
Born on 22nd of February, 1964 to a Thriving middle-class family of Alhaji Benjamin Oyediji Taiwo Ogungbangbe and Princess Victoria Ogungbangbe.
His father, Late, Alhaji Benjamin Ogungbangbe who on May 14th 2002 joined his ancestors was the Chief Imam of Iloko-ljesa and the founder of Osowusi Muslim Commercial High School, Iloko-ljesa. The first post-primary educational institution in Iloko-ljesa.
At a very tender age, being a precocious child, he began to learn the culture and tradition of the great people of iloko-ljesa.
He was something more that a first son to his late father.
He was a dependable ally and the closest confidant, Alhaji Benjamin Ogungbangbe an unorthodox and unconventional methods to inculcate moral values. Their relationship transcended the bond of father and son. A relationship born out of something extraordinary.
They discuss, he paid rapt attention. The crux of their discourse was Integrity, Self-Discipline and Personal Identity.
He had his primary school at L.A. Primary School and secondary education at and Osowusi Muslim Commercial High School, Iloko-ljesa. he the proceeded to Oyo State College of Arts & Sciences, Ile-Ife, where he obtained A-level Certificate.
He then studied Linguistics at the prestigious University of Ibadan, graduating with B.A. (Hons) Linguistics in July 1987.
He did his National Youth Service programme at Command Secondary School, Zaria Road, Jos, Plateau State between August, 1987 and July, 1988.
His line of discipline proves crucial till date as it has given him the leverage to thrive and have a remarkable career in the field of Advertising and Marketing Communication spanning decades.
He begun his professional career at Impact Corporate & Product Promotions Limited in 1988 and joined Ogilvy Benson & Mather Nigeria Limited (OBM) Yaba , Lagos, a formidable and dominant Global Advertising Agency of that era in April,1990.
At OBM he got exposed to several opportunities and rose from the rank of a Trainee Media Executive to Group Head, Client Service and Media.
He resigned in August 2000 from Ogilvy Benson & Mather Nigeria Limited to explore his potential and utilise his entrepreneurial skills.
Today he is the founder, co-founder and core investor in a thriving group of companies in the field of Advertising, Digital Printing, Agriculture, Hospitality and Transportation / Logistics.
He is a registered Member of The Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria (APCON).
He is a fellow of Institute of Direct Marketing of Nigeria.
An Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON)
What about his wife? His life got more galvanized into a thrilling episode of quick events in succession when he got married to Olori Modupeola Kikelomo Ogungbangbe from Obanla Jimoh Joseph Ibironke Family of Ita-Offa in Ilesa, Osun State.
To say opposite attracts cannot be truer in their marriage. While Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe illustriousness and tight schedules due to his standing as captain of industry in many sectors of the economy and barely has time, Olori Modupeola Ogungbangbe , a calm, prayerful, and beautiful woman provides the balance at the home front.
She is a bridge builder per excellence and somebody who can always infect anybody with hope and believe on contact.
God has blessed the family with children, two men and two women who are making progress at various levels of their personal pursuits.
Due to his altruistic drive to empower people and help them become a better version of themselves,Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe created platforms to freely employ people through his companies.
In recognition of the incredible value and potentials of Agriculture, he set up a farm at Temidire, Osun State.
Like his Late Father, he is a stickler for qualitative education and therefore still has many undergraduates enjoying private scholarships.
He is a philanthropist, a social influencer, a community leader and mobiliser. He directly in his private capacity and remotely through his companies initiated, financed and executed projects in both public and community institutions such as Primary and Secondary Schools, Police stations, Road Projects, Bus shelters, Mosques, Churches, etc.

He has attracted widespread recognitions from public, private and political circles. He has won several awards and invitations for chieftancy titles which he turned down in compliance with his late Father’s personal Identity Syllabus.
At certain times in life, instinct tells discerning individuals to think of the legacy after them and eternal story ahead – Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe thought this way several times having come to the golden age. One is therefore convinced the values of hardwork, resilience, vision, integrity, self-discipline and personal identity that has defined his personae will further aggregate into higher tempo of success, impact and achievements as characteristics of the Ajagbusi-Ekun sons and daughters.
