JUST IN: Bandits Attack Hospital, Abduct Nurse, Caregiver

  • Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked a hospital and abducted a nurse and caregiver on Friday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the General Hospital, Dansadau in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and abducted a nurse and caregiver.

It was gathered that immediately the bandits stormed the hospital on Friday, they headed to the outpatient ward in search of a doctor or nurse.

“When they couldn’t find anybody there, they starting going from one ward to another. A nurse and a caregiver were abducted. They then moved to staff quarters looking for doctors and nurses but could not find any,” a resident of the community said.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the bandits had earlier attempted to attack Maigoge, a community located six kilometres north of Dansadau town.

The source added, “But when they laid siege to the community, the vigilantes otherwise known as Yan Sakai firmly defended the village. The vigilantes killed some of the bandits and injured several others.

“They then invaded the hospital to kidnap nurses and doctors that will treat their injured brothers in the forest.

“The staff of the hospital are not carrying out night duties now. They only attend to patients at day time. They then move inside the town to spend night usually at undisclosed locations,” the resident said.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the incident was confirmed by the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Zamfara State, Dr. Mannir Bature, saying the association is worried by the attack.

The NMA Chairman added that the association would hold an emergency state officers council meeting on Saturday.
