Just In: Popular RCCG Pastor, Danjuma Tafawa-Balewa Dies Of Covid-19 [PHOTOS]

According to reports, Pastor Danujma died following complications from COVID-19.

Pastor Danjuma Tafewa-Balewa of the Redeemed Christian church of God, Cornerstone Parish (My Father’s House), Okota passed into glory.

The clergyman was 62.

According to reports, Pastor Danujma died following complications from COVID-19.

Recall that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had raised an alarm over the increasing third wave of the deadly coronavirus amid spike of Delta variant in the state and warned foreigners who violate guidelines that they risk deportation. Residents of Lagos were also advised to wear masks and observe strict protocols to contain the virus.

It was also gathered that the cleric and his wife, Vera as well as some family members are on isolation after testing positive to the virus.

Reports say Danujma had been on oxygen for more than two weeks, who thereafter lost battle to the virus around 12am on Saturday.

The renown Pastor was recently in Bauchi to bury his mother who died at 99.

He was preceded by Pastor Basil Ninis.

Members of the church who confirmed the demise of the clergyman in tributary notes seen by EKOHOTBLOG correspondent said he was a transformational leader.

Emmanuel Adeyemi in a tributary post said:

“An epic era of evangelical history has come to an end. Pastor Danjuma was not only a titanic figure in evangelicalism, but in the history of RCCG and perhaps represents the last of a kind.

Emmanuel said he was saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest soilder of Christ of the century, Pastor Danjuma.”

Meanwhile the Lagos State Government has also released 88 centres for COVID19 vaccination across 20 Local Government Areas in the state in order to battle the rampaging pandemic.

The third wave of the pandemic has no doubt hit Lagos State proper and while it has not been as disruptive as the first and second waves, it has led to the reintroduction of restrictions and forced the management of the University of Lagos to send students home.

Governor Sanwo-Olu admitted that the state was already in the third wave of the pandemic but he believes previous experiences battling the disease will help the state prevail over it.

To achieve that objective, according to him, the state and its resident will have to dig deep and summon the will to do everything necessary.

According to a statement announcing his demise, Pastor Danujma died on Friday, after a month-long battle with the virus at the hospital.
