The institution which is one of the tertiary institutions owned by the Oyo State government is named after late Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, father of the current Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin.

The residents, who staged a protest on Monday, also demanded the removal of the chairman of the governing council of the institution, Dr. Samuel Ogundiran.
They also called for the immediate dissolution of the institution’s governing council, led by Ogundiran for peace to reign in the town.
It was learnt that the protest which was carried out by youths in the town, paralysed academic and non-academic activities in the institution on Monday.
One of the protesters, who asked not to be named, advised Governor Seyi Makinde to immediately dissolve the governing council and reconstitute another one for peace to reign in the town.
But, Ogundiran in his reaction, noted that the council acted in accordance with the law.
He maintained that the National Board of Technical Education guideline allows Council to appoint Acting Rector for a maximum of 12months, and which was a decision taken at a general meeting of the board which held earlier.
