Ex- Kwara Lawmaker, Rafiu Ibrahim to Feature at NUJ Media Parliament
- All is set for the 30th edition of Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) holding tomorrow, Thursday.
The event, which is billed for 10:30am at the NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, will feature a financial expert and former Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator (Dr) Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, as Guest Speaker, EkoHotBlog reports.
A statement issued in Ilorin by the Chairman and Secretary of the state council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Omotayo Ayanda respectively said Senator Rafiu Ibrahim is to deliver a paper themed “Naira Devaluation by Central Bank of Nigeria: How Did We Get Here? What Are The Challenges and Prospective For Us As Nation?” at the event.
The statement said the 30th edition of the media parliament was conceived in view of the raging financial quagmire and the attendant devaluation of Naira at the behest of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The NUJ said the presentation of the former lawmaker is expected to chart a way forward as a precursor to help rescue the nation’s economy from imminent drift.
The statement added that the Media Parliament was a forum designed for interaction with top-rated media practitioners and principally aimed at informing, enlightening and educating Nigerians, as well as bridging the information gap between leaders and the public.
It maintained that the platform was also put together to feature experts in all spheres of life to discuss issues pertaining to the growth and development of the nation.
The statement, however, noted that the guest would attend to questions from panelists and participants in attendance after the presentation.
It urged members of the NUJ to be punctual at the event.
