JUST IN: Governor Akeredolu Shuts 15 Hospitals In Ondo

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has ordered the immediate closure of no fewer than fifteen private hospitals and clinics in the southern senatorial district of the state.

The closure of the private hospitals was made known by the Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Folukemi Aladenola, on Wednesday evening.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the hospitals were shut for alleged illegal operations and promoting quackery.

Aladenola added that fifteen operators of the health facilities were also apprehended and detained at the police station for allegedly operating private hospitals below the required standard.

She further stated that the suspects were arrested after visiting 36 medical clinics located in Ore, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Ilutitun, and Iju-Odo among others, and made the arrest.

Also speaking, the Head of the Monitoring team and Director, Hospital Services in the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayodele Adelusi, added that all the affected facilities would not re-open until the necessary requirements were met.
