EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Government has announced the diversion of traffic from the Yaba axis over the ongoing construction of the Red Line Rail Mass Transit project, from midnight of Friday, October 1, 2021, till January 1, 2022.

The latest development was made known via a statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, on Thursday.

Oladeinde stated that the three months duration was to ensure that the construction work is completed in record time as promised by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

The commissioner further explained that traffic movement on Muritala Mohammed Way and Yaba axis will be diverted to Empire Road so that road users can access Western Avenue, adding that motorists on Herbert Macaulay Way can also use Empire Road to connect Western Avenue to reach their desired destinations.

He also stated that signs will be placed strategically on the access roads, while the officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will manage traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to road users plying the axis.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Government reiterated its continuous commitment towards the development of transport infrastructure within the metropolis, maintaining that the Multi-Modal Transportation System objective of the state government will boost the socio-economic development of Lagos.
