Invasion Of Odili's Residence
  • Justice Odili has been reportedly missing after security operatives raided her Abuja residence.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that many have been thrown into panic over the whereabouts and safety of the Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili, following the alleged unlawful invasion of her family residence in the Maitama area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by security operatives on Friday.

The residence of the Supreme Court Judge at lmo Rivers Street in Maitama was said to have been raided by fully armed plain-clothed security men for undisclosed reasons at about 5pm on Friday.

The security men were said to consist of soldiers and officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who identified themselves as members of a joint task force.

Security operatives guarding the house were said to have resisted the takeover of the house without a court order, while the joint task force insisted on staying around the residence, waiting for the occupants to surrender so they could take over the house.

However, this online news platform gathered that Justice Odili had yet to be seen or make a public statement since the alleged invasion of her residence.

Meanwhile, EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked the reports that its operatives carried out an operation in the Abuja home of Justice Mary Odili.

The operatives of the anti-graft agency were alleged to have stormed the house of Justice Odili in the Maitama area of Abuja to execute a search warrant as part of investigations into her husband, Peter Odili, who served as Governor of Rivers State from 1999 to 2007.

However, the EFCC, while reacting via a statement on its official Facebook page, noted that its operatives did not carry out “any such operation as claimed by the media”.

The statement was titled, ‘EFCC Did Not Carry Out Any Operation in Justice Odili’s Home’.

It read, “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to claims in a section of the media that operatives of the Commission today, October 29, 2021 stormed the Maitama, Abuja home of a Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili, purportedly to execute a search.

“The Commission by this statement wishes to inform the public that the report is false as it did not carry out any operation at the home of Justice Odili.

“If there was any such operation as claimed by the media, it was not carried out by the EFCC. The Commission enjoins the public to discountenance the report,” the EFCC stated.
