[COVID-19] Five Die As NCDC Records 856 New Infections 

• Total cases confirmed – 245,404
• Total cases discharged – 217,247
• Total deaths recorded – 3,058

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the latest figures by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirms that Nigeria now has a total of 245,404 COVID-19 cases.

In its latest case update dated January 5, the NCDC reports 856 new cases with 5 COVID-related death.

The new cases were reported in 20 states – Lagos (337), Kaduna (152), FCT (87), Gombe (47), Delta (43), Kano (31), Kwara (27), Enugu (26), Nasarawa (19), Niger (15), Oyo (11), Rivers (11), Benue (9), Bauchi (8), Ogun (8), Borno (7), Ekiti (6), Edo (5), Plateau (4) and Bayelsa (3).

According to the NCDC, no case was recorded in Bauchi and Sokoto States.

It was gathered that out of the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria, 217,247 cases have been discharged while the death toll has risen to 3,058.
