Family Gives Fresh Update On Actress Iyabo Oko’s Health Status
-
Family has given fresh update on actress Iyabo Oko’s health status.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Adebisi Odukanmi, daughter of veteran actress, Sidikat Odukanmi, popularly known as Iyabo Oko, whose ‘death’ was announced on social media during the week has said she believes her mother will get better if she gets the right support.
Seeking for financial support from Nigerians and colleagues of the ailing actress, Adebisi told Saturday Beats, “As a family, we would appreciate it if Nigerians and my mother’s colleagues could give financial support to get her extensive medical care outside the country which, according to her doctors, would make her hale and hearty. Although we expected to get enough financial support for her medical treatment when we did a fundraiser for her on social media after a part of her body got paralysed a few months ago, we were only able to raise a little amount of money. Meanwhile, we spentt about a million naira at the hospital.

“My mother had been suffering from a partial stroke since 2015, and we flew her to India for proper medical treatment towards the end of 2016. She was in India receiving treatment until early 2018 when we brought her back to the country after she was discharged. We spent millions of naira for her treatment in India and we didn’t get any external support from anyone at the time because we didn’t inform anybody, including her colleagues. (After the treatment), she was doing very fine for over a year until she began to show some symptoms of sickness and we had been managing it until she became partially paralysed a few months ago. We then had to do a fundraiser but we were only able to raise a little amount.”
Explaining on why she initially declared that her mother had died during the week, Adebisi said, “My mother stopped breathing around 9pm on Wednesday (January 5, 2022) and we thought she was dead, so I made the announcement on my Instagram page as we grieved. I was however stunned when she moved her arms at about 1am on Thursday. We have done our best to make her get better and we have spent millions in the process, but we cannot afford extensive treatment for her at the moment because that would require taking her out of the country again. That is why we need financial support from everyone— her colleagues, the government and citizens.”
