An Assistant Director in the Agency, Mrs. Olaide Oladunjoye, stated that in line with its mandate and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda on Education and Technology, the Office embarked on the exercise to educate the masses about the learning opportunities available for youths and adults in Epe and environs.

She added that the Agency intends to ensure that both young and old residents of the State have the opportunity to acquire vocational skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the society.
Oladunjoye explained that the Office is determined to achieve the set goals and objectives of the mass literacy programme of the State government through enlightenment of the citizens, adding that the sensitisation programme will create awareness among the good people of Epe on the presence and activities of the agency in every part of the community.
Her words: “We have adult literacy classes at various primary schools in Epe and two vocational centres located at Kasali Oluwo Street and Odo-Iragushin. At the completion of the nine-month literacy programme, trainees will have the opportunity to move to the next stage which is post-literacy education and even further their education to any level of their choice and those who are interested in vocational training such as fashion designing, catering, hairdressing, gele-tying, computer and digital skills, among others, are trained and sponsored by the Lagos State government”.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s agenda on education is key and we are hitting the ground running by ensuring that the inhabitants of Epe and Lagos at large benefit from this programme because society is better governed when its members are well educated. So we want to ensure that more people are captured into the net of the mass literacy programme and as many as possible acquire vocational training”, she said.
The Assistant Director, therefore, urged the people of Epe to utilise the great opportunity to add value to the economic development and progress of the society, stressing that the entire programme is free of charge and available to all. She also advised the youths to shun all forms of social vices that are prevalent among them and focus more on developing their natural talents.
The Oloja of Epe Land, HRM Oba Kamoruden Ishola Animashaun, while welcoming the campaign team from the agency to his palace, appreciated their good work and advised some of the trainees present to be diligent and dedicated as well as maximise the rare opportunity provided by the government to acquire knowledge and desired vocational skills.
The Agency’s team thereafter went on a roadshow campaign with the distribution of fliers from the Oba’s Palace to Ayetoro market, Olu Epe’s Palace, Pobo Market, Mojoda Market, Aladeshoyin’s Palace and Eredo LCDA among other places.
