World Cancer Day: Alimosho GH Commissions Cervical Cancer Screening Centre
As part of activities marking World Cancer Day, the Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, has commissioned its Cervical Cancer Screening Centre towards improving service delivery to all residents of the State.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Medical Director of the Facility, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka, said the Screening Centre is also in line with the State Government’s strategy to provide effective treatment for the disease among Lagosians, adding that his personal experience necessitated his undaunted passion for the fight against the scourge.
In his words: “I have decided that everywhere I am opportune, am going to make lots of efforts to fight this scourge and I have kept to that promise. When I became a Medical Director. I started the Cervical Cancer Screening Office in Amuwo Maternal and Child Centre (MCC) and here in Alimosho General Hospital, am also privileged to commission a similar centre”.

Dr. Soyinka maintained that to achieve a reduced rate and, possibly, total eradication of cervical cancer in the State, the need for accessible screening centres by patients cannot be overemphasised, promising that the newly commissioned Centre will be well utilised for the benefit of humanity.
“The newly launched Cervical Cancer Screening Centre in Alimosho General Hospital, which is situated in the largest local government area in Lagos State, will contribute to help screen the 2000 people already scheduled for the cervical cancer screening across the State”, the Medical Director asserted.
