The awardees include the Grand Matron, Barrister, Mrs Yinka Oladunjoye, All Progressive Congress Vice Chairman, Lagos East represented by Mrs Giwa; the Matron, Dr Mrs Atinuke Onayiga, Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission; the Founder, Mrs Kemi Adedeji, Lagos State Coordinator on National Social Safety Net Project; and Justice Olayinka Adeyemi, Judge of Lagos State High Court.

The President, Professor Basirat Olushola in an interview with EKO HOT BLOG, said it was pertinent to celebrate the iconic members of the association based on their immense contributions to the growth of the Epe Division and Lagos State at large.

“We thought it wise to celebrate these four magnificent icons in recognition of their remarkable dedication to duty and service in their various career endeavours. We thought we should be the first to celebrate them based on their recent appointments, they are our members and we know what they’ve contributed.

“That is why we need to organise this as it is meant to inspire other members to buckle down to get to the peak of their careers,” she said.

In her address, Mrs Kemi Adedeji, the founder and convener of the association appreciated the members for making it to the event to celebrate despite their tight schedules.

She, therefore, emphasized the need for members to give back to society, stressing that the association is not a social club but one with the sole objective of service to humanity.

“For every single time that you think of EPWA, please, think of service. Any time EPWA comes to your mind, please think of service. It is the only reason that we have put ourselves together to work for the betterment of our Division, for our girls and our women.

“EPWA is not a social club, it is mainly established to give back to the community and it is all about service and it will continue to be about service,” she reiterated.

Adedeji further stated that there were a lot of programs organised by the association pre-Covid and since the Covid era is phasing out, she admonished all members to revert to the modus-operandi of the association in their various neighbourhoods for the betterment of young girls, women and the division at large.

While she restated to both the newly inducted and old members that EPWA is an NGO where members don’t take but spend to make meaningful contributions to give back to Epe Division, Adedeji applauded them for ensuring that the high spirits of commitment and dedication to serve has always superseded any personal interest in the association.

The event which featured a short health talk, the induction of new members into the association, dance and merriment, had in attendance, Duke Olabode Garbadeen, former Commissioner, Lagos State Civil Service Commission; Alhaja Jumoke Rasaq, wife of late Epe Political Juggernaut, Chief Lanre Razaq (KLM); and other notable Epe daughters.
