- OGPWA Completes Works On Another Phase Of Road Repairs
- Repair works has continued on the Orile Ifo road network which is a major feeder road to the congestion which usually occur at the Ifo market
Eko Hot Blog reports that In its continued efforts at fixing bad portions of road network across the length and breadth of the state, the Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA) has completed work on another phase of road repairs across the state.
Speaking during an inspection visits to site locations, the General Manager of the Agency, Arch. Gbenga Akintola said that this particular phase was strategic and important as the Agency took advantage of the dry spell to navigate into the surrounding areas of virtually all the local government areas of the state.

He revealed that the present phase of road repair works covered areas from Abeokuta South which included Nepa road, Imo, Oke-mosan road, OGTV road. In Abeokuta North, Totoro junction, linking Ogbe, Methodist Cathedral road network has been given a major facelift.
In Ogun West senatorial district, as declared by the General Manager, many road network were marked for repairs and were already being touched one after the other. Such, included, Mefun road, Ota, in Ado –Odo Ota local government. Others include, Ibese- Igbogila road network, in Yewa North local government, Adetona, Orita payi, Sabo junction road, Ilaro. Idiroko- Ipokia road in Ipokia Local government area.
The GM further revealed that, repair works has continued on the Orile Ifo road network which is a major feeder road to the congestion which usually occur at the Ifo market.
At Ogun east senatorial district, Arch. Akintola disclosed that the OGPWA team has moved to market road, Isara Remo, completed repairs there, Ajegunle, Sagamu in Sagamu local government, Erunwon Ogidi road, Ijebu-North East local government and Imososi street, Ago-Iwoye in Ijebu North Local government have been worked upon by the OGPWA’s team.
He made known that road repairs and re-habilitation exercise was an ongoing practice in OGPWA apart from the periodic releases of work phases by the government, revealing that in the last few months, OGPWA has completed a full re-asphalting of the Kings Court Estate road, Oke-Mosan, The access road of the House of Assembly Legislative quarters.Opic roundabout, Oke Ilewo, Central Bank Junction to the Bureau of Lands / OGSIEC access road, while speed breakers was also fixed at strategic roads within the state capital.
Other road network repaired were the Oke-Ilewo to Omida, Igbore road junction, Oke-Ilewo, Iwe-Iroyin road down to GTBank kuto road junction all in Abeokuta, noting that road repairs would always be a continuous exercise as long as there is vehicular traffic on the road.
To the general public, the GM reminded them of the collective responsibilities of ensuring that the roads are protected from habits that were always tilting towards putting the integrity of the road at risk.
Habits such as oil spillage on asphalt surface, driving on roads with a punctured tyre and silting of the drainages which could make the flowing water overshoot its boundaries and spill on the road surface and ultimately damage the road network were those enumerated by the General Manager.
