EKO HOT BLOG reports that former senator, Ademola Adeleke has been declared winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
The governorship election is scheduled to hold on July 16.

The PDP primary, held at the 10,000 capacity Oshogbo stadium, was also contested by Dotun Babayemi.
The primary election held amid allegation of bias and litigations which could have stalled the process.
Senator Adeleke was also the party’s flagbearer in 2018 when he lost to incumbent Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Some of the party members have raised allegations of bias amid litigations which could have stalled the process, but the party says it will not be deterred from conducting the process that will ensure that a legitimate candidate emerges.
With Adeleke’s emergence, the party renews its bid to retake Osun state after 12 years of losing the governorship seat to the APC.
In 2018 the PDP candidate polled 254,698 votes while the APC flagbearer polled 254,345. With a gap of 353, the exercise was declared inconclusive, the party eventually lost after a rerun election was conducted in some local governments.
