EPL: Ralf Rangnick Gives Reason UK Govt Should Sanction Arsenal, Everton Too
-
Ralf Rangnick has demanded punishment for Arsenal and Everton after Abramovich, Chelsea sanction.
- Rangnick, speaking to the media on Friday, claimed Arsenal should also be looked at as Russian oligarchs have owned shares in the Gunners and Everton too.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, has called for Arsenal and Everton to be punished too, following the UK government’s sanctions on Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich.
On Thursday, the UK government froze Abramovich’s assets, due to his links to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, who has ordered a military invasion of Ukraine.

The Blues are currently unable to sell any tickets or merchandise and cannot offer new contracts to players.
Rangnick, speaking to the media on Friday, claimed Arsenal should also be looked at as Russian oligarchs have owned shares in the Gunners and Everton too.
Not only at Chelsea, [but] also at Arsenal and Everton, there were ownership shares by Russian oligarchs.
This (Chelsea) was not the only club,” he said.
Recall that the UK government sanctioned Roman Abramovich and Chelsea, alleging that the Russian oligarch had been “involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermined and threatened the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine” via the steel manufacturing company Evraz PLC.
However, Chelsea was given a special license to continue operating, but cannot sell tickets and merchandise or conduct player transfers or contract negotiations.
Abramovich had put the Blues up for sale last week with an asking price of £3billion, adding that the proceeds would go to “victims of the war in Ukraine”.
That sale has been put on hold for the foreseeable future following the sanctions.
However, the UK Telegraph reports the Russian billionaire can still proceed if he agrees to hand over the process to the government.
The government would decide the value of the club, and where the funds from any deal will go.
