EKO HOT BLOG reports that Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, has stated that the PDP must do all possible to return to power at the center in the 2023 general elections in order to unite Nigerians from all walks of life, ethnic variety, and religious affiliations.
Ayu made the pronouncement at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja over the weekend while offering a goodwill message at the wedding celebration of Mixine Ewere Okowa, daughter of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and Dr. Daniel Igo.
According to him, the biggest challenge confronting the current generation of Nigerians is to leave a healthy and united country to the millennials that would outlast them.
“We felt we were on an unstoppable path to the top,” he added, “but calamity occurred along the way, and we’re back to square one now.” As a result, our generation bears the profound responsibility of leaving a united, healthy, and successful nation to our offspring.
“That is 2023’s momentous challenge. We’ve never had it so terrible, on so many levels, but we must stay united in order to save our country. There is reason to be optimistic. There is a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel. Nigeria will rise anew with the arrival of the PDP.”
The former Senate President praised the marriage of Delta State’s Maxine and Benue State’s Daniel as proof that Nigerians were ready to unite despite cultural divides.
Earlier, the Rt. Revd. Moses Tabwaye, the officiating minister who joined the couple, advised the newlyweds to make Christ the Head of their home, saying that He was the foundation for lasting marital success.
Rev. Tabwaye preached on the Five Ps of Pastoring, Protecting, Parenting, Providing, and Piloting, saying the qualities provided a timeless blueprint for happy houses, emphasising that no groom who followed the formula rigorously had failed.
Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and Evang. Edith Okowa (bride’s parents), Elizabeth Igo (bride’s mother), and the governors of Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Bayelsa, and Sokoto were among the dignitaries in attendance.
