EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is pleased that the club has appointed Erik ten Hag as its new manager.
The 52-year-old was confirmed as the new Red Devils boss on Thursday after weeks of speculation and will take charge at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
The Dutchman already has a great reputation after helping Ajax to the Champions League semi-final in 2019, knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus, and he has won two Eredivisie titles with the side since 2017, with a third currently on the cards.
“I’m very excited the club has made the decision so now we all know,” De Gea told MUTV.
“We know what he has done for Ajax, he has nearly been in a Champions League final, won titles and he develops very good players, young players.
“I think he plays very good football, very offensive, attractive football, keeping the ball.
“It’s good to know he is already watching the games and thinking about what he can do to change for us. I’m looking forward to working under him.”
De Gea is one of the few remaining players at United who was around for the club’s last Premier League triumph in 2013, and he’ll be hoping Ten Hag is the man to bring the good times back to the Theatre of Manager.
But for now, the 31-year-old says his side are just concentrating on securing Champions League qualification, with United currently sixth in the table, three points off the top four but having played a game more than main rivals Tottenham and Arsenal.
The Spaniard said: “We have to be focused on the last games and the fight for the top four. We have a very important game on Saturday against Arsenal.
