EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has shown an interest in making Christian Eriksen one of his first signings for the Red Devils but faces competition from Tottenham.
Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is on Erik ten Hag’s transfer wish-list for Manchester United.
Ajax coach Ten Hag, who will assume the Old Trafford managerial reins at the end of the season, believes the 30-year-old star would be the perfect signing to launch his revolution at the Premier League club.
Eriksen spent time training with Hag’s Ajax outfit at the turn of the year as he continued his recovery from that near-fatal on-pitch cardiac arrest at last year’s European Championships.
United’s next boss was hugely impressed by the former Tottenham midfielder’s quality – as were all the Ajax players.
The Dutch club may have considered re-signing their one-time teenage starlet but for fears at that stage over his medical condition – and ability to perform at the highest level again.
However, like everyone in world football, Ten Hag has watched on in awe at Eriksen’s incredible return to top-flight action with Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
And the fact he will be a free transfer in the summer – after only signing a short-term deal with the West Londoners – makes him even more attractive to the Premier League elite.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte has made no secret of his interest in taking on his former Inter Milan Serie A winner. Whether Eriksen would consider heading back to N17, after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy blocked his dream move to Italy until the last minute when he sold him to Inter in January 2020, remains to be seen.

Champions League football next term will certainly boost the North Londoners’ chances in the race, especially as it will be at United’s expense. But Dutchman Ten Hag is still optimistic of persuading Eriksen that his huge project to revive the fallen Premier League giants is a challenge worth taking on.
