ICAN Epe District Chairman Renders Account Of Stewardship, Celebrates 1st Anniversary

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chairman, Epe and Districts Society of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, High Chief Charles Olufemi Keshinro (FCA), has rendered the society’s account of stewardship in commemoration of his one year in office.

This took place in a colourful event which featured an Annual General Meeting and witnessed a large turnout of members from across Epe Metropolis including Civil Servants working with the Lagos State Government and students of nearby Tertiary and Post-Primary Education Institutions, held in the Main Hall of the popular and serene Epe Jubilee Chalets on Saturday 30th April 30, 2022.

In his welcome address, High Chief Charles Keshinro disclosed that it was important to celebrate the tangible feats recorded so far as the association has kept its promise in upholding the ICAN vision, stressing further that it is poised to continually entrench an enviable transparent leadership.

Speaking further, ICAN Epe District Chairman disclosed that his leadership has enhanced an improved financial commitment of members to the Institute, while also stating that the training and mobilisation of members to attend conferences and the propagation of a high level of a productive relationship with the community has increased significantly.

Having commended the immediate past President, Dame Onome Joy Omoruyi for her indelible advice, he also showered encomiums on HRM Oba Nelson Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi towards Epe ICAN for supporting the district’s star project.

“Our star project, our dream of securing a landed property for ICAN activities was watered by our Royal Father, HRM Oba Nelson Obayomi Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi, who promised to donate 1 acre of land at Owu-Ikosi to our District”

“We are in communication with His Royal Majesty and hope to effectively secure this and improve on our one-year performance and take our District to greater heights,” he said.

ICAN Epe District Chairman gave further insights into the many wins of the association in the past year some of which include an enviable 34% growth in membership and participation in leadership retreats organised by ICAN Western zone, Mowe and Ijebu-Ode zones inclusive.

He added that the district has secured a secretariat around the Aiyetoro axis of Epe Metropolis which will accommodate the Chairman, the Secretary and Receptionist desks and a Mini Library.

Guests joined the District Chairman to cut the anniversary cake.

“Catch Them Young Program of over 70 students of Yaba College of Technology and Augustine University Ilara was held in November 2021 and another is being organised here at Epe Jubilee Chalets today for over 50 Secondary School Students from Scholars International School, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (LASUED), Yaba College of Technology, Epe Campus and Augustine University, Ilara,” he said.

He, therefore, informed the gathering that in April 2022, the Epe ICAN was instrumental in the accreditation of Accounting/Accountancy programs by the Council of the Institute from 2019/2020, to the 2022/2023 academic session at Augustine University Ilara. This is in addition to other support programs the District Society facilitated such as the donation of numerous ICAN student manuals, accounting software packages and other technical cum logistics support for the accounting department of the school.

Earlier in his address, the Anniversary Committee Chairman, Mr Adekunle Otusemade, hinged the success of the district on the premise of commitment and resilience from members particularly the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, HRM, Oba DR Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, Dr Muritala Abiodun, Lagos State Accountant-General, Mr Salami Adeniji, Lagos State Auditor-General, Mr Femi Ogunlana, Lagos Local Government Auditor-General and Mrs Hellen Deile, former Lagos Auditor-General.

He also applauded the sponsors such as SMT, LIRS, Planet Projects Ltd and LARALEK Ultimate Limited for their support. He noted that the tireless efforts of Mrs Olayemi Ajiboye, Mr Jamiu Bakare and the District Chairman were unquantifiable.
