1. Gani Adams warns against religious crisis in South-West
Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has warned those fanning the ember of ethnic and religious violence in the South-West to desist from the act.
He insisted that the South-West would resist any attempt that could trigger a crisis and disturb the peace in the region.
Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on media, Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, condemned the murder of Miss Samuel Deborah, a 200-level Christian student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto over alleged blasphemy.
He said, “We are in the midst of a full-blown crisis in Nigeria, and unless something urgent is done, this may lead to complete anarchy.
2. Gunmen shot policeman dead in Anambra
A yet-to-be-identified policeman has been shot dead in Eke Oko, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the victim, who was on a motorcycle was intercepted by the gunmen and shot dead instantly.
The incident was said to occur around 6:10 pm on Sunday.
Aguata, the Local Government Area of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has come under serious attacks by unknown gunmen since the government declared war on them.
The police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for reaction as calls and messages to his telephone line were not responded to.
3. Chelsea beat Man City to win women’s FA Cup
Chelsea completed a Women’s Super League and FA Cup double as Sam Kerr struck twice to see off Manchester City 3-2 in a thrilling final at Wembley after extra time.
Emma Hayes’ side exacted revenge for defeat to City in the League Cup final earlier this season, but were pushed all the way despite taking the lead three times.
The English champions took the lead when Kerr nodded Millie Bright’s cross at the back post, but City equalised through Lauren Hemp just before the break.
A long-range effort from Erin Cuthbert restored Chelsea’s lead early in the second half.

4. 2023: Kaduna delegates back Amaechi as El Rufai, Kaduna Speaker show support
Delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State on Sunday, pledged to give their votes to Presidential Aspirant and outgoing Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The delegates made the decision two days after they had promised the same to another visiting Presidential aspirant, stating that the earlier pledge by some of the delegates to that aspirant was a spur of the moment decision which no longer stands.
Addressing the delegates during the consultative visit by Amaechi to the State, Governor El Rufai said, “I told you when you made that pledge to Asiwaju that others may not come, because of what you have done. You made that choice without listening to anyone else. Today you have seen the difference. You’ve heard Amaechi, you’ve seen what he has done. And he has brought a very strong security team. So you know what will happen with our security if he is in charge.”
5. 2023: Nigeria’s sliding off the cliff, needs intervention — Hayatu-Deen
A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has raised the alarm that the country is sliding off the cliff and needed urgent intervention.
Hayatu-Deen said this while on a consultation visit to delegates of the party in Ondo State ahead of the partys primaries.
He lamented the level of division across the country by the ruling party
“Since I was born, I have never seen a time like this in the country. A moment of enormous grief, turbulence and trepidation. The country is divided.
6. SSANU, NASU hail appointment of first female VC of FUTA, Prof Adenike Oladiji
The Non-Academic Staff of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, have expressed satisfaction with the processes that led to the appointment of the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor (Mrs) Adenike Temidayo Oladiji.
Prof. Oladidi was appointed by the instructions Governing council as the eight Vice Chancellor.
The workers under the Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprises of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), weekend said from the available records, Professor Oladiji is the most qualified and came top in the selection process.
Addressing newsmen at the campus in Akure, the Chairman of SSANU FUTA chapter, Comrade Felix Adunbi who is also the JAC Chairman, affirmed that there was no law that says FUTA Vice Chancellor, should be a product of the institution.

7. Adeleke, Babayemi factions agree on delegates ahead PDP presidential primary
The two factional governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke and Prince Dotun Babayemi have agreed on the national delegates for the presidential primary of the party.
The factional candidates agreed after a reconciliation committee constituted by the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, led by former Ondo State governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, who held a meeting with the leadership of the two factions in Osogbo yesterday.
The Nation gathered that the leaders of the two factions, including Senator Adeleke, Prince Babayemi, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Ojo Williams, Major R. A. Towobola (rtd) and Alhaji Rasaq Oyelami were in attendance.
8. ‘Ibadan deserves special status’
Oyo South senatorial hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke, has said the development of Ibadan is key to his political agenda.
He said there were lots of areas within Ibadan metropolis that needed urban renewal, in order to attract more development to such areas.
Adegoke, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), and business turnaround expert, spoke at the weekend during his consultation with the leaders of Ibadan North, which is the largest local government in Oyo South Senatorial District. He also visited Ibadan North East Council.

10. Kidnappers of widow in Kogi demand N10m ransom
Suspected kidnappers, who abducted a middle-aged widow and mother of four children in Kogi State, have demanded N10 million ransom from her family.
The widow, Mrs Sefi Jimoh, was abducted on the road while waiting for a commercial motorcycle, popularly called Okada to go home after a morning prayer session at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church at Phase II in Lokoja metropolis.
A family source, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lokoja, said “only this morning our sisters’ abductors got to us on phone demanding N10 million ransom for her freedom.”
“The kidnappers first called her (widow) children and informed them that their mother is with them and that she will only be released after a payment of a N10m ransom.
