1. APC won’t lose 2023 elections – Adamu
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has expressed optimism that the APC will win the 2023 general election if the conduct is free and fair.
Adamu made the assertion while receiving the Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria, Joanna Tarnawska, in his office on Wednesday.
He said, “With the massive support the party enjoyed from over 43 million Nigerians, there is no way the party will lose the 2023 elections.
“The APC was conscious of the effects of developments in Nigeria on other African countries and we are prepared to conduct ourselves at the next elections according to international best practices.
2. FCT police reward 29 children of slain officers
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Wednesday rewarded 29 children of slain policemen with life insurance cash benefits of their fathers who died in active service.
The reward was in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, who ordered that cheques be presented to the deceased families of 29 police officers who died while serving the nation.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday, alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on Wednesday at the Police Command Headquarters in Abuja.
Babaji praised the IGP for assisting in reducing the hardship faced by families of the deceased police officers.
He said, “This gesture was part of the IGP’s Group Life Assurance aimed at improving the welfare of the families of deceased police officers.
3. Ignore ‘manipulated’ viral video, Wike’ll never leave PDP – Aide
Kelvin Ebiri, the Media Aide to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Wike will never leave the Peoples Democratic Party. He said a viral video suggesting that he (Wike) was threatening to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress was manipulated.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, Ebiri said the video being circulated was intended to mislead members of the public.
Ebiri said the video was an excerpt of an old interview the governor granted to a popular television station while reacting to the defection of the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, from the PDP to the APC.
He said the “manipulated video”, which was now being circulated as if it was new, was the handiwork of unscrupulous persons and should be disregarded.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a manipulated video circulating on Social Media, purporting that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, intends to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

4. Ben Bruce woos Atiku, Tinubu, Obi: Forget politics, work with me to rescue Nigeria
The founder of Silverbird Group, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce on Wednesday urged presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) to all ignore politics and work with him on a mission to rescue Nigeria.
Murray-Bruce, who made the disclosure on his verified Twitter page, said Nigeria will not survive 12 months of this “horrible hardship.”
5. Bandits kill 5, rustle 2000 cows in Kebbi
In a fresh attack in some villages under Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi state, armed bandits at least 200 have attacked and allegedly killed five civilians during the attack.
According to our source Abdullahi Sulaiman, the armed bandit’s burnt houses and carted away at least 2000 cows belonging to the people of the affected villages.
He mentioned that at least 12 villages were attacked which are Makera, Tungar taro, Yar danko, Runtuwa, Donka , Nadado, Rijiyar Dutsi, Baure and Tungar Dorawa.
However, at least 5 bandits were killed by the military while another 3 were killed by vigilantes who came to assist the military to repel the attack, air support provided could not bombard bandits because they took refuge in villages to avoid aerial bombardment from the air force but normalcy has returned to the villages as they count loses.

As mixed reactions continue to greet a 3-day visit of Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi to Egypt, activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju has advised Obi and his party to get serious and work on what could give them actual results at the 2023 general elections.
Adeyanju urged Obi to get serious and make arrangements to meet the presidential candidates of the New Nigerian People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso urgently, adding that LP and Obi should reduce social media noise and get to building structures across the country immediately.
He noted that if Obi fails to do as he has advised, the outcome will be embarrassing.
The activist, who reacted to Obi’s trip on Wednesday, via his Twitter handle, stated that Obi’s ‘crazy’ online fans will create more enemies for him than friends.

Actress Ini Edo has called on all women to participate actively in the Ekiti governorship candidate.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Edo insisted the active participation of women in politics will go a long way to bring about the desired change in the state.
The 40-year-old Akwa-Ibom indigene, reminded Ekiti women that their vote represents their voices, as such, it should be deployed maximally on the said day of the election.
8. Malabu Oil Block: I’ve been vindicated, says Adoke
A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) said the JP Morgan Chase Case in London on Malabu Oil Block (OPL 245) has vindicated him.
He said the administration of President Obasanjo in 2006 opted for an Out-of-Court Settlement and returned OPL 245 to Malabu 100 per cent.
He said he only carried out the lawful directives/approvals of ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to the effect that the Settlement Agreement was implemented.
He said he did not demand or receive any form of bribe or gratification from the parties to the OPL 245 Settlement Agreement.

9. Guber aspirant seeks nullification of APC primaries in Rivers
A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Bernard Mikko, has filed a lawsuit against the governorship candidate of the party, Patrick Tonye-Cole, the APC and Independent National Electoral Commission, challenging the just-concluded party’s primaries in the state.
Mikko in an originating summon brought before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt is asking the court to determine whether in regulations by INEC, in conduct of party primaries, the APC is mandated to conduct its primaries in face of alleged illegalities pertaining the conduct of APC primaries.
Mikko is also seeking the court to determine whether Tonye-Cole is qualified to contest for the governorship position despite the alleged report of fraud contained in a white paper released by Justice George Omeriji led panel of inquiry set up by governor Nyesom Wike.
He, therefore, asked the court for an order nullifying and setting aside the primaries of APC in Rivers State and to mandate INEC to conduct “democratic fresh primaries” for the party.
10. Ekiti election: NSCDC deploys 9,747 personnel, warns against compromise
The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, on Wednesday, charged all the personnel deployed to Ekiti gubernatorial election slated for June 18, 2022 election to be professional in their conducts by allowing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Corps to guide their performances.
In a statement by DCC Olusola Odumos, Director, Public Relations, NSCDC National Headquarters,
Abuja, said the CG who has approved the deployment of 9,747 officers and men, noted that the service must remain apolitical and neutral to avoid any form of compromise during the election.
He maintained that necessary machinery has been put in place to provide effective security for INEC officials, sensitive and non sensitive materials, before, during and after the election, reiterating that all the 2,445 polling units, collation centres, flashpoints and other criminal hideouts are fully covered.
