EKO HOT BLOG reports that Rt. Hon. Ahmed Muhammed, the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, has been impeached, and three other principal officers of the House have been removed from their positions and suspended.
Muhammed is a legislator in the State House of Assembly who represents the Akpa 1 state seat.
The members accused Muhammed and three other main officers of egregious misconduct and arbitrary misuse of authority during an emergency meeting at the Assembly Complex in Lokoja on Friday.
Hon. Enema Paul, member representing the (Dekina/Okura) State Constituency, read a motion of urgent importance in which he said 17 lawmakers signed the impeachment of the deputy speaker and suspension of the three principal officers of the House.
Bello Hassan Balogun (Majority Leader), Idris Ndako (Deputy Majority Leader), and Hon. Edoko Moses Ododo are the three principal officers who were removed from office and later suspended from the House (Chief Whip).
Following that, the House named Alfa Momoh Rabiu, a legislator from Ankpa II, as the new Deputy Speaker.
Hon. Muktar Bajeh (Majority Leader), Umar Isah Tanimu (Deputy Majority Leader), Enema Paul (Deputy Chief Whip), and Ahmed Dahiru are the other new principal officers elected (Chief Whip).
The Speaker of the House, Prince Mathew Kolawole, has already announced the dissolution of all of the House’s standing committees.

There was a large presence of security officers at the Assembly complex before to the impeachment process, including police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS).
During the proceedings, 17 of the House’s 25 members were present.
