The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has disclosed that his victory at the party’s special convention and presidential primary did not come easy, noting that he fought a hard battle to clinch the ticket.
Tinubu stated this on Sunday when he returned to Lagos State for the first time after clinching the APC presidential ticket during the primary held early this month in Abuja.
The party’s National Leader touched down in Lagos in company of APC notable leaders. Various groups of artisans, women and youth joined thousands of APC faithful in Lagos to welcome Tinubu back to his base. Also, there were various cultural troupes and musical bands, entertaining the massive crowd.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the company of his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, received Tinubu and his entourage, which included the Governor of Kano State, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, Sen. Kashim Ibrahim, former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, among others.
2. Ekiti: Oyebanji’s victory must inspire us for more, says Tinubu
All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor-elect, Abiodun Oyebanji, and the party for winning Saturday’s governorship election.
Oyebanji polled 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of Social Democratic Party, Segun Oni, who garnered 82,211 votes.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his media team, Tinubu commended Oyebanji for the steadfastness and passion he brought into the campaign, which paid off with the emphatic victory.
The national leader of APC was also full of praise for the party’s governors and members of National Working Committee of APC under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Adamu for recording their first major electoral victory, charging them not to relent in their efforts to lead the party to greater victory in 2023 general elections.
3. Obi confirms talks with Kwankwaso’s camp, says it’s time to act
The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Sunday in Abuja, said it is past time for prayers alone to salvage the country.
This was as he said Nigerians must act now to ensure accountable leadership.
Obi was speaking at a panel session at the Men of Valour Conference themed, ‘Navigating the Corridors of Power: The Church and Politics,’ convened by the Revival House of Glory, Abuja.

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described OKowa as an asset to all Nigerians.
Abubakar in his message to Nigerians on Sunday in Abuja said that the office of the president in particular required that the holder of that office to have clarity of the mind on decision-making
Abubakar said that the decision of making a running mate and how it was made in countries that have acquired more experiences in democratic acculturation, provided a window of assessing their preparedness for the job that potentially waits ahead of them.
He said that in meeting up with the expectation, and more importantly to ensure that he make a pick of a running mate that Nigerians shall be proud of, it became necessary for him to be introspective about his choice.
5. UNICAL plans Domestication of National Gender Policy — says VC
Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, weekend revealed that the institution was set to domestic the revised National Gender Policy to promote gender equality in the institution.
Prof. Obi made the revelation when the United Nations Women paid her a courtesy call.

6. 2023: Northern youths, women vow to support Peter Obi, Labour party
No fewer than 15,000 youths and women from northern Nigerian state of Nasarawa have vowed to support the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election.
Speaking to newsmen in Lafia on Sunday, the State Southern Zonal Chairman of Peter Obi Candidacy Movement, Victor Laka, explained that the youths decided to support the former Anambra State governor because of his leadership qualities.
Laka further said that the group, with members from across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, was tired of politicians from other political parties who kept lying to the masses of providing good governance during electioneering campaigns but ended up disappointing them. He noted that it was the reason they decided to support the Labour Party to produce Obi as President in 2023.

7. Oni rejects Ekiti Gov poll as PDP candidate concedes defeat
The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the just concluded Ekiti governorship election, Segun Oni, has rejected outcome of the poll.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Biodun Oyebanji emerged the winner with187,057 votes to defeat his main challenger Oni who polled 82, 209.
Oni described the the results of the poll declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a charade that does not reflect the popular wishes and aspirations of the people.
8. Kaduna sacks NUT President, 2,356 teachers after competency test
Kaduna State Government has announced the dismissal of, 2,357 teachers, including the National President of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Audu Amba for failing or refusing to sit for the competency test organised by the State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB).
But Kaduna chairman of the NUT Ibrahim Dalhatu told journalists the competency test and dismissal of the teachers were illegal.
KADSUBEB in a statement on Sunday said the Board conducted a competency test for over 30,000 teachers in Dec. 2021.
KADSUBEB said 2,192 primary school teachers, including NUT National President had been dismissed for refusing to sit for the competency test

9. Ekiti polls: Results demonstrate Nigerians believe, trust APC – Ganduje
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has congratulated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ekiti State governorship election, Biodun Oyebanji, on his huge victory in the election, held on Saturday.
The governor, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the wide margin of votes between the Ekiti governor-elect and co-contestants, clearly demonstrates the trust and confidence of Nigerians across the country in the APC.
While saluting the APC both at the state and national levels on the peaceful and successful conduct of the poll, Governor Ganduje also commended the people of Ekiti State for making the right choice.
10. Kaduna govt confirms bandit attack on worshippers, 3 killed, others injured
The Kaduna State Government (KDSG) has confirmed that bandits attacked worshippers, killed three people and injured two others in Kajuru Local Government Area.
Mr Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday in Kaduna.
Aruwan said, “On a sad note, security agencies have reported to the Kaduna state government that bandits attacked worshippers and locals at Ungwan Fada, Ungwan Turawa and Ungwan Makama in Rubu general area of Kajuru local government area.”
