EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Enugu State Police command has promised to unravel the cause of fire that destroyed the INEC headquarters in the state’s Igboeze North Local Government Area.
Hoodlums set fire to the INEC office in the council’s Ogurute headquarters late on Sunday night, completely destroying the structure.
However, a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, noted that the fire began on Sunday night at around 11 p.m. from the back of the building.
According to the statement, CP Abubakar Lawal, the commissioner of police for Enugu State Command, has directed the State CID to launch a thorough investigation to determine what caused the office fire.
The statement disclosed that the fire was put out by Police Operatives that swiftly mobilized to the scene on receipt of the information, with assistance from personnel of Nsukka Office of Enugu State Fire Service, thereby averting further damages within the vicinity.
