EKO HOT BLOG reports that TV presenter, Richard Keys has warned Chelsea to steer clear of a move for Cristiano Ronaldo after owner Todd Boehly reportedly held talks with the Manchester United star’s agent.
The Portuguese star submitted a transfer request to club chiefs at Old Trafford as he attempts to force through an exit. One of his leading suitors is thought to be Chelsea, with Boehly having already sat down with super-agent Jorge Mendes.
The Blues are yet to make their first signing of the summer, despite seeing Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Romelu Lukaku all leave the club. Signing a replacement for Lukaku is one of Thomas Tuchel’s top priorities.
Ronaldo would appear to be a prime target to fill that role given Boehly’s recent meeting with Mendes. But the Blues have been warned that bringing in the Portugal captain would be a major mistake.
TV presenter Richard Keys has told Tuchel that Ronaldo would “blow up” the Chelsea dressing if he is brought into the club. That is something that Tuchel will desperately avoid doing as he embarks on a fairly substantial overhaul.
Keys had hailed United’s anticipated signing of Christian Eriksen, who is set to arrive at Old Trafford on a free transfer. But he urged Chelsea to proceed with caution before deciding to sign Ronaldo.
“Eriksen is a fantastic piece of business. He’s one of a few that can run a game at his pace. Mancini wanted him but Eriksen believed he would sign for Barca. And Tuchel is right – beware Ronaldo. He doesn’t understand he is a cameo role now. He’ll blow another dressing room up,” Keys tweeted.
Keys would appear to be referring to the frequent reports throughout the previous campaign of a split in United’s dressing room. At the centre was Ronaldo’s unhappiness with Harry Maguire’s position as captain, as well as the attacker’s demands that United’s players step up their efforts amid a dismal season.

However, it is still unknown which club would be Ronaldo’s preferred destination, though it is unlikely United would sell him to a fellow Premier League club.
