In time past, diabetes was seen as a sickness for only adults but recent discoveries have revealed that even children can also develop high blood sugar levels.
Due to the increasing number of overweight and obese children, cases of type 2 diabetes are also increasing among young people.
However, due to some factors, some children are at higher risk of developing diabetes than others. The parents or guardians of these children have to focus on reducing their risk to prevent the development of this deadly disease

Some diseases can run in the family and diabetes is one of them. Children whose parents or siblings suffer from diabetes have a higher risk of developing the medical condition.

5. Maternal gestational diabetes
This type of diabetes occurs during pregnancy. Children whose mothers developed gestational diabetes while pregnant may likely have diabetes.
