1. Don’t politicise Kuje prison attack, APC warns opposition parties
The All Progressives Congress on Saturday berated critics and opposition parties against politicising the invasion of Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja by terrorists, where over 600 inmates were set free.
The leadership of the party noted that taking advantage of terror attacks and violence against innocent Nigerians in the name of partisanship is an ill wind that will blow the country no good.
This was contained in a Sallah message issued on Saturday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in Abuja.
Suspected terrorists had on Tuesday night attacked Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abuja, where they freed 600 inmates.
2. PDP drowning, dying gradually in Delta – Senator
The senator representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly under the platform of People’s Democratic Party, Senator James Manager, on Saturday declared that with the latest happenings within the Delta State chapter of the PDP, the party “is drowning and dying gradually” in the State.
Senator James Manager, one of the PDP governorship aspirants in Delta State ahead of the 2023 general elections, made the declaration in a signed statement made available to journalists in Warri.
The statement was in reaction to the judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja disqualifying Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the PDP governorship candidate in the state.
Senator James Manager stated that he “would not feign ignorance as the party is drowning and dying gradually”.
3. Motorcyclist killed, one injured in Osun auto crash
A man, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, on Saturday lost his life when his motorcycle hit a car along Osogbo/Ilobu road, while the passenger he carried was also left injured.
The accident which occurred around Service Area, Osogbo, Osun state, caused tension, as residents who rushed to the scene, deflated tyres of the vehicle involved and apprehended the driver.
While the injured passenger was rushed out of the scene to an undisclosed hospital, the remains of the deceased motorcyclist, was still at the scene when our correspondent left the area.
Speaking on the accident, a resident, simply identified as Florence, said the motorcyclist carrying a passenger was coming from Ilobu end of the road, while the vehicle involved was heading towards Ilobu from Osogbo.

4. Lagos flood: Jandor sympathizes with victims, sets up disaster recovery team across 20 LGAs
The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Dr. Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor, has commiserated with families displaced by weekend flood even as he expressed displeasure over the challenging experience of residents any time it rains.
Recall that Lagos State Goverment had earlier issued warning to residents over the impending heavy rainfall with attendant flood and the need to relocate to safer ground anytime it rains.
Reacting to the latest flooding, Jandor reached out to some of the victims affected, earlier in the week. The with torrential rain on Saturday, however, lasted for about seven hours sweeping away some residents with their vehicles.
According to him, “I have received with worries, messages of families being displaced as a result of today’s downpour. It is disheartening to see the good people of the state suffer such neglect and huge discomfort. This disaster is preventable and avoidable at least to the barest minimum.”
5. Buhari challenges citizens to expose criminals, says security is collective responsibility
President Muhammadu Buhari says increased disclosure of unusual activities will expose bandits and terrorists, nudging the security apparatus to eliminate threats across the country.
The president stated this while speaking to newsmen after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at his country home, Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday.
The President’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement, reported the president as saying that all those that had unleashed mayhem on innocent citizens should reflect on their atrocities, knowing that they soiled own name and their family reputation.
“We are praying that the rainy season will be good for production of the food we eat in the country.
6. Flood sweeps man while searching for missing cows in Lagos
A middled aged man was reportedly swept by flood on Saturday, while in search of his missing cows around Oko-Oba in Agege area of Lagos.
The incident reportedly occurred in the morning.
His colleagues were said to have alerted residents of the area after their fruitless search at about 4pm.
A resident of Oko-Oba, Ayomide Arinola hinted Vanguard about the development.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it declined from publishing the names of the candidates submitted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North and Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial Districts, Senator Ahmed Lawan and Godswill Akpabio, because it didn’t monitor the primary elections that produced them..
The Commission insisted that the Constitution mandates it to monitor congresses and primaries of political parties.
A statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye reads: “The attention of the Commission has been drawn to speculations circulating online on the outcome of some of the recent primaries conducted by political parties and related issues. In particular, allegations intended to impugn the integrity of the Commission have been made in respect of the Akwa Ibom North West and Yobe North Senatorial Districts.

9. Abuja-Kaduna train: Air Vice Marshal Tuwase’s wife, Pakistani among captives freed by terrorists
The wife of a top Nigerian military officer is among the freed Abuja-Kaduna train kidnap victims.
A military insider told DAILY POST that Bosede Tuwase is part of the seven hostages released on Saturday.
The woman is the wife of Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olurotimi Anthony Tuwase.
“A Pakistani and Bosede Olurotimi are among those released. She is AVM A. O. Tuwase’s spouse.
“We all knew since but the information was safeguarded,” the source said.
Tuwase is the Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji near Kaduna.
10. Insecurity: Terrorists can attack Aso Rock one day – Ex-Oyo Gov, Ladoja warns Buhari
A former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja has warned that terrorists may attack Aso Rock, the official residence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ladoja, who was Oyo governor between 2003 and 2007, said that the terrorists who are attacking various strategic facilities and formations in the country may one day attack the seat of power if urgent action is not taken to address the growing spate of insecurity in the country.
Ladoja, who addressed journalists on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital, explained that Aso Rock can be attacked if they can go to the extent of attacking the advance convoy of the President.
DAILY POST recalls that the advance team of President Muhammadu Buhari was recently attacked by some suspected terrorists in Katsina State.
But, Ladoja while speaking with journalists who thronged his Bodija, Ibadan residence for the Eid-el-Kabir festival on Saturday, insisted that the terrorists may one day attack the Aso Rock if they could free high-profile inmates kept at Kuje prisons without any hindrances.
