EKO HOT BLOG reports that a building located at Oke Arin street, in the Onipanu area of Lagos State collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 1.07 am at Oke Arin street, off Shyllon Ilupeju.

This is coming barely two weeks after a church building under construction collapsed opposite Number 17, Cardoso Street, off Martins Street in Mushin.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the development on Wednesday morning.

“The Alpha Cobra team of Lagos State Emergency at Onipanu en route to Oke Arin street off shyllon Ilupeju,” Osanyintolu said.

The site is expected to be handed over to the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Ministry of Physical Planning for further investigation.

Building collapses are common in Nigeria and construction experts blame this on a widespread disregard for regulations.
