EKO HOT BLOG reports that Twitter users have reacted to the directives by the United Nations to the Federal Government of Nigeria to unconditionally release and compensate the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

This online news platform had reported that the UN Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on Saturday ordered President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to release Kanu.

Nigeria and Kenya governments were condemned for the arrest, torture and continued detention of Kanu without due process.

The Buhari administration were also directed to pay the IPOB leader adequate compensation for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights.

Kanu is currently in the detention of the Department of State Services (DSS) after being charged with offences of terrorism.
