EKO HOT BLOG reports that a US woman was arrested in Washington D.C., on Thursday after police say she shot her husband and then barricaded him and herself in a hotel room for nearly an hour.
After a standoff with police at the luxury hotel in the US capital, Shanteari Weems, from the Baltimore area, alleged to police that her husband is “a child molester.”
The 50-year-old told them that children at her daycare business alerted her to the alleged molestation, according to affidavit reports.
The victim, whom Weems has been married to for five years, was shot twice and is in critical condition, the US documents state.
Weems is the owner of Lil Kidz Kastle Daycare Center in Owings Mills in Baltimore County, Maryland.
The couple was reportedly barricaded inside the room at the luxury hotel for about 30 minutes on Thursday, July 21.
When police finally got inside after a standoff they found two guns in the room, along with letters Weems wrote apologising to the children, saying she didn’t know what was going on at the daycare.
Baltimore County Police said the daycare centre is closed as their investigation continues.
Weems was arrested and is charged with assault with intent to kill.

Baltimore County police said they are monitoring the case in D.C. and supporting the local families impacted.
A preliminary hearing for Weems is scheduled for Monday in D.C. Superior Court. She is represented by Lisbeth Sapirstein, who did not return a request for comment Sunday.
