Open Spaces: LASPEMA Embarks On Inspection Exercise In Abule-Egba, Others
The Lagos State Planning and Environment Monitoring Agency (LASPEMA)has embarked on an inspection and monitoring exercise of setbacks and incidental open spaces in Lagos State
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in furtherance of the State Government’s zero tolerance to the abuse and misuse of setbacks and incidental open spaces, the General Manager of Lagos State Planning and Environment Monitoring Agency (LASPEMA), Tpl Daisi Oso, has embarked on an inspection and monitoring exercise of setbacks and incidental open spaces to the Abule-Egba/Agbado Oke-Odo axis of Lagos State
Tpl. Oso said the exercise was undertaken to curb illegal activities, abuse of setbacks and incidental open spaces around Agbado Oke-Odo environs, noting that all the structures built under the power transmission lines did not get approval from the State Government
He further reiterated that illegal activities on setbacks and incidental open spaces will no longer be tolerated, stressing that owners and developers contravening stipulated rules, regulations and guidelines of the agency will be made to face the full wrath of the law. .

While informing that the Monitoring and Compliance Unit of LASPEMA has served contravention notices to violators of setbacks and incidental open spaces, the General Manager averred that the agency will leave no stone unturned in protecting the environment from abuse in the bid to enhance the aesthetics of the State.
Oso assured that LASPEMA will continue to collaborate with relevant MDAs, Local Governments and Local Government Council Development Areas to achieve the goal of making Lagos livable while providing an enabling environment for the operators of the informal sector to run viable businesses.

The areas inspected by the monitoring team, which also comprised representatives of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as well as officials of Agbado Oke-Oko LCDA, include AIT Road, Kola Street, Ademola Balogun Street, Amikanle Street, Town Planning Road, Awori Bus-Stop and Pipeline Road among others.
