Bandits who abducted Police DPO, Sani Muhammad Gyadi-Gyadi, threatened to kill him on September 7th as they Demand N80 million after collecting N7 million and a new motorcycle.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that kidnappers of a police officer, Sani Muhammad Gyadi-Gyadi, the DPO of Birnin-Gwari Divisional Headquarters in Kaduna State, have said they will kill the police chief on September 7th, If a ransom of N80 million naira is not paid, after collecting N7 million and a new motorcycle.

This online media platform reports that Mr Gyadi-Gyadi, a chief superintendent of police, was abducted by the bandits in June on his way to his new duty post in the bandit-infested Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following a transfer from Pambegua Division.

An investigative journalist on Twitter, with the handle @truthfully83 who called on the attention of the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations officer, Abuja Headquarters, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the abductors of the Police DPO have threatened to kill the police chief on September 7th if the ransom is not paid.

Speaking with BBC Hausa, Mr Gyadi-Gyadi’s family of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna said the officer is in dire condition despite the ransom they paid.

A relative of the Police DPO told the BBC that the initial demand from his captors was N250 million, which was more than they could afford, so they gave what they had.

“It’s been 68 days since the incident happened. We have made several efforts to secure his release, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any breakthrough,” Musa Gyadi-Gyadi said. “When they kidnapped him, they requested an N250 million ransom, which they later reduced to N150 million, and now N80 million non-negotiable.”
