1. 2023: PDP postpones presidential campaign to placate Wike
The Peoples Democratic Party has rescheduled its presidential campaign rallies for Kebbi and Zamfara states indefinitely.
The presidential rallies were slated to take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13, 2022 respectively, however, were put on hold.
Though the party has not offered any explanation to that effect, The PUNCH learnt from unconfirmed sources that the party was halting the rallies to return to the negotiation table with the Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike.
The National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, had on Monday told a gathering of party faithful that the party’s train has moved but slowly to wait for those who might be joining them in the campaign.
2. Gunmen abduct policeman in Kwara
Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a senior police officer identified as Abdulmumini Yusuf on Tuesday night at Ogidi community in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Abdulmumini also known as “Emirate No1” in the area is an Assistant Superintendent of Police serving at the area command in Ilorin, it was gathered.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday night while he was about to enter his house in Ogidi after the close of work.
Sources told PUNCH Metro in Ilorin on Wednesday that the Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, has since visited the community following the incident.
3. FG must incorporate UTAS into IPPIS – OOU VC
The outgoing Vice Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Professor Ganiu Olatunde, has advised the Federal Government to incorporate some of the features of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System to avoid another strike.
The OOU VC said this on Tuesday during a chat with journalists in his office to mark the end of his five-year tenure in office.
Olatunde said the only way to peacefully resolve the lingering crisis between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government over the preferable platform for payment of lecturers’ salaries was for the government to merge UTAS and IPPIS.
ASUU had rejected the IPPIS, a payment platform created by the FG to pay its workers and insisted on UTAS as its preferred payment option.

4. 2023: LP appoints Yunusa Tanko presidential campaign chief spokesman
The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organization, LPPC, has appointed Dr. Tanko Yusuf, Chief Spokesman of the Peter Obi/Datti Ahmed presidential campaign council.
A host of eminent Nigerians were also appointed as directors and heads of units.
Those appointed include:

5. ADC to hold convention soon, says Kachikwu
The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dumebi Kachikwu, has advised Nigerians to disregard any statement emanating from the embattled former chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu and his team, saying that the ADC will soon conduct its national convention.
Kachikwu said this in his reaction to an “illegal convention” conducted by the former chairman which purportedly granted him a fresh tenure of office after holding same position for seventeen years.
The “Special Convention,” was reportedly held at the Ahmadu Bello University Conference Hotel in Zaria, Kaduna State on Wednesday, with Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu in attendance alongside other party members.
6. Appeal Court fixes Thursday to rule on Nnamdi Kanu’s case
The Court of Appeal, Abuja will deliver judgment in the case between the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government on Thursday.
Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor made this known on Wednesday in a statement titled, “Update on Onyendu’s Court of Appeal case.”
Vanguard earlier reported that the separatist group’s leader’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor led a team of other lawyers at the appellate court this morning in the appeal suit filed on September 5, 2022.
