However, it was a double celebration for the entire university community when the first day at the office for the new VC also doubled as her birthday.
It was a period of celebration on Monday, November 14, 2022, a day that would go down in history where the staff and top administrative officers welcomed the 13th Vice-Chancellor while also marking her birthday.
It was the first day of a work-week and according to the university’s information unit, members of the University community came out in their numbers to felicitate with the new VC, in what she described as a special moment in her life.
Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday, November 12, 2022; Professor Ogunsola held an extensive meeting with Directors, Deans, and Heads of Departments and Units, where she revealed her plans for the University.
The meeting kickstarted the genesis of her journey and her tenure in the new role.
Not to leave any stone unturned, it was learnt that the Professor Ogunsola-led administration held its first Management Meeting on the 10th Floor of the Senate House.
Professor Ogunsola is a Medical Microbiologist. She previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services under both Professor Rahman Bello, FAEng (11th Vice-Chancellor), and immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS.
In August 2020, she was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University; a position she held until November 2020.
Of the entire 60 years of the federal institution, and one of the leading universities in Nigeria, Professor Ogunsola was the first female to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG.
She succeeded the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS. Professor Ogunsola has been described as a disciplined administrator and will now lead the institution for the administrative years.
