The party chieftains were reportedly among other strong supporters of opposition parties in the state who pledged their allegiance to the APC on Thursday, November 25, 2022.
At least ten thousand (10,000) former opposition members reportedly joined APC yesterday in the state. Other notable faces in the defection train include former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Musa Yeketi, and Personal Assistant to the former Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed on Political Matters.
Some chieftains of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) were also part of the defectors.
The defectors were received yesterday in Ilorin, the state capital, by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Top government officials and party chieftains, including the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, and the Director General of the APC Campaign team, Alhaji Yahaya Seriki, were all present to receive the new members.
In his remark, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the defectors for their bold decision and assured them of fairness and equal treatment in the party.
The governor listed some of his administration’s scorecards across sectors and enjoined the APC members to remain resolute in delivering the state at the 2023 general elections.
Fagbemi, on his part, said Kwara people have all seen the huge gap between the past and present administrations in terms of inclusive growth and good governance and have vowed never to allow the state to go backward.
