As the fuel scarcity bites harder on Nigerians, the over 200 million population has about 2 billion litres of petrol available for use.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Executive Vice President, Downstream, NNPC Limited, Mr Adeyemi Adetunji.

It was revealed that the stock of over two billion litres is equivalent to over 30 days of sufficiency, which will be available to Nigerians.

As part of efforts to ease the increasing queues at fuel stations, NNPC said it is monitoring massive load-outs from depots to states while vessels and trucks have been programmed to unconstrained depots.

Adetunji stressed that scarcity in Lagos is due to the road construction going on in the state.

“The recent queues in Lagos are largely due to ongoing road infrastructure projects around Apapa and access road challenges in Lagos.

“The gridlock is easing out, and NNPC Ltd has programmed vessels and trucks to unconstrained depots and massive load outs from depots to states are closely monitored,” he said.

Adetunji revealed that Abuja is suffering the effects of the construction in Lagos. He added that NNPC retail and key marketers had intensified dedicated loading into Abuja to restore normalcy.

“We want to reassure Nigerians that NNPC has sufficient products, and we significantly increased product loading in selected depots and extended hours at strategic stations to ensure sufficiency nationwide.
