The project is powered by solar energy street lights and aimed at enhancing security and boosting the town’s nightlife.

Raji, who was celebrating his birthday on the day of the flag-off exercise, was joined by fellow members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), including the State Welfare Secretary, Hon. Kehinde Adeniyi; former State Welfare Secretary, Alhaja Ramota Bankole; Epe LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Toyin Gbadamosi; Eredo LCDA Apex Leader, Hon. Odudolapo Stella Odufisan; former Epe LG Chairman, Otunba Bode Alausa, and others.

In his remarks, the lawmaker acknowledged that the project would help to resuscitate nightlife and night trade across thousands of streets in the town.

While lamenting the degradation of night markets in Epe, he vowed to ramp up efforts to illuminate the dark sports across the town.

“If you are conversant with our leadership style, we don’t make noise. Our approach to politics and service delivery to our people is enshrined in our works which speaks for us louder than any propaganda. Under the first phase, we’ve distributed a total of 510 solar street lights,” Raji said.

“We have observed the challenge of lack of adequate street light all over our constituency and the effect of this is that nightlife is virtually non-existent and it affects the economy because traditionally, Epe is known for night commercial activities.

“There were night markets across Epe when we were young but this has been adversely affected due to the lack of street lights. Some of the notable beneficiaries of the first phase is the Ita-Ale market where traders use local lamps but under the solar street lights we provided, the market women operate till as late as 9-10 o’clock without any fear or molestation.”

Meanwhile, the APC welfare secretary in Lagos spoke with Eko Hot Blog at the venue of the project flag-off.

Adeniyi told this medium that the project is an evidence of Raji’s “unprecedented accomplishments” since he assumed office.

“To start with, I would like to celebrate the birthday of the Lawmaker and I wish him more of God’s benevolence and abundant blessings. Having said that, what we’ve witnessed here today is an unprecedented accomplishment of the Wale Raji political dynasty and I must commend him for his vision and foresight,” he said.

“The dividends of democracy facilitated by the MHR are numerous across Epe Federal Constituency and this is just another milestone achievement; not for him alone but for his beloved constituents.”

The APC chieftain urged party loyalists and residents to obtain their voter cards and vote for all APC candidates in the 2023 general elections.

“You can see for yourself; the impactful project has endeared his constituents to him the more. I, therefore, plead with our people to make painstaking efforts to collect their PVC and ensure they vote Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for President; Babajide Sanwo-Olu for Governor; Senator Tokunbo Abiru for Lagos East Senatorial District, Rep. Wale Raji for House of Representatives, Epe Federal Constituency, Hon Abiodun Tobun and Hon Ogunkelu Oluwaseun for Lagos State House of Assembly Epe Constituencies I & II,” Adeniyi said.

Bankole and Odufisan also said they were satisfied with the illumination project, which they noted will improve the socioeconomic growth of families across Epe.
