English FA Charges Arsenal With Misconduct

FA has charged Arsenal with misconduct.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that after Arsenal defeated Oxford 3-0 in the FA Cup, they were accused of “failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly manner.”

The accusation against Arsenal is connected with an event that happened in the 34th minute of the third-round triumph over the League One team.

Following the denial of their request for a penalty for a handball against Oxford’s Elliott Moore, some Arsenal players surrounded the center referee, David Coote.

Monday, January 16, is the deadline for the Gunners to reply to the charge.

An FA statement read: “Arsenal FC has been charged with breaching FA Rule E20.1 during its tie against Oxford United FC in the FA Cup”.

Meanwhile, according to the head of the UK’s Football Policing Unit, there is a “worrying amount of disruption” at football events, and more people are being arrested.

There were 661 reported incidents at 1,550 matches, which is the second-highest number on record but a 19% down from the 2021–22 season.

The 2021–22 season saw 2,198 football-related arrests, which is a record high since the 2013–14 season, according to Home Office data.

The research, which covered every match from the Premier League to the National League as well as European and international games played in England and Wales, also revealed that there were 29 instances of online hate crime allegations, a 53% rise from the previous season.

“Whilst the total number of incidents reported is down, this is still the second highest figure we have seen, and it is particularly concerning to see a rise in pyrotechnics, missiles, drug use, and attacks on stadium staff,” Chief Constable Roberts said.

Anyone found in possession of or caught providing class-A drugs in connection with football from November 2022 was liable to a 10-year ban.

Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) sports lead prosecutor, Douglas Mackay, added: “We will continue to work closely with the police, football authorities, and fan groups to stamp this out to make sure that football is a game for everyone and not one that discriminates against anyone.”
