A former Nigerian governor has been confirmed dead.

Suleiman passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Commodore Dan Suleiman, a former military governor of Plateau State and member of General Murtala Mohammed’s Supreme Military is dead.
Suleiman passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81.

Late Suleiman served as federal commissioner for Special Duties in the General Yakubu Gowon government and was regarded as being instrumental in the founding of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The deceased is also one of the founding members of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).
The Secretary of NADECO, Ayo Opadokun announced Suleiman’s death in a statement made available to journalists.
Opadokun stated that he was informed of Suleiman’s death by the President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Bitrus Porgu.
Opadokun, in the statement, described the late Suleiman as “consistently courageous, nationalistic, genuinely patriotic, whose life and times was rich for good purposes and services to God and humanity.”
