Angela Okorie speaks some harsh words to female colleagues in the Nigerian movie industry.
-
According to the actress, acting in a movie doesn’t give anyone in the business the money to own a mansion.
-
Okorie states there is no disparity in how much a male or female actor in the Nigerian movie scene is paid, like some actresses portray as they flaunt wealth on social media.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has called out her female colleagues in the industry, stating that they should stop lying about their source of income.
According to the actress, many upcoming actresses who have only appeared in a few films claim that they were able to buy mansions and expensive possessions solely from their acting careers.
In an interview with Factory 78, Angela pointed out that many of her colleagues have other side hustles that fund their luxurious lifestyles. She emphasized that people should stop lying about the source of their income and be transparent about it.

Angela said:
“Talking about females making it more than the males, it’s not as if the males are not making it but people should stop lying. All these females should stop lying. You are not even up to a year in Nollywood. You will come and lie to people that you just bought a house.
“Please tell me which money you used to buy the house. And you will be telling people that they are paying you. Oga, you are not earning more than me. And the last time I checked, you have not even done up to ten movies.
“So, how do you want to compare yourself to someone who has done more than 200 visuals to you who just did five visuals, and you are saying you bought a house? You guys should just stop lying.”
The actress also encouraged her colleagues to be honest about any additional sources of income they may have. She said, “If there is something you are doing to earn money, you should say it.”
In conclusion, Angela’s comments serve as a reminder for all actors and actresses in the industry to be transparent about their source of income and not to make false claims about their success.
