Kebbi SDP Gubernatorial Candidate Abandons Party, Embraces A New Political Home In APC

The Governorship candidate of the SDP in Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku MaiAhu, and all SDP candidates have defected to the APC.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu expressed excitement over the defectors and welcomed them to the APC.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku MaiAhu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
All SDP Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, as well as the 225 ward chairmen and executives, also joined the APC and collapsed their structure.

Speaking at an event to receive the defectors, Mai-Ahu said all the defectors have also presented their letters of withdrawal from SDP to APC to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said: “We have candidates contesting for 22 House of Assembly positions, seven candidates contesting for House of Representatives, and three others contesting for the senatorial positions in the State as well as my running mate, Alhaji Bello Tilli. We have also presented the letters of our withdrawal from SDP to APC to INEC.”
Receiving the defectors at the APC campaign Council Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu expressed excitement over the defection of the SDP members.
The Progressive Governor’s Forum Chairman commended the bold step by the defectors to join APC, saying it was for the development of the State and the progress of the party.
Bagudu congratulated Kebbi APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, and the DG campaign Council, Alhaji Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, and all stakeholders who played significant roles in convincing them to join APC.

He said: “We are not too many in the party as our huge number will be our strength and advantageous to vote our chosen candidates and move the party and state forward.”
Also speaking, APC gubernatorial candidate Dr Nasir Gwandu assured the defectors that APC would treat them as equal members of the party.
