6 Confirmed Dead In Car Crash On Ilorin-Omu Aran Highway

An accident that took place on Wednesday along the Ilorin-Omu Aran Highway has left 6 dead and 9 others injured.

According to reports, the accident occured around 5 a.m.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has alleged the cause of the accident to over-speeding.
EKO HOT BLOG reports tragedy struck on Wednesday when a multiple auto crash claimed the lives of six persons on the Ilorin-Omu Aran highway in Kwara State.
Nine other people also sustained serious injuries in the accident, which occurred around 5am.
Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State, Frederick Ade Ogidan, attributed the crash to overspeeding.

According to him, the accident involved an ash-coloured commercial Suzuki bus with registration number BDJ-134XB and a blue-colored DAF trailer with registration number ABC 435XN, loaded with onions from Sokoto State.
In a phone conversation with DAILY POST on Thursday, Ogidan revealed that all 15 people involved in the accident were male, with six of them losing their lives while the remaining nine sustained head injuries and fractures.
He further disclosed that the injured victims were immediately taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) in Ilorin, for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the UITH. The Sector Commander has called on motorists and road users to always abide by traffic regulations to prevent further accidents on the highway.
This unfortunate incident is another reminder of the need for drivers to always exercise caution while driving, especially on busy highways.
