Ohaneze Pledges Support To Federal Government In Simon Ekpa’s Case
  • Igbo group, Ohaneze promises to assist the Federal Government with whatever evidence needed in prosecuting Simon Ekpa.

  • The Biafra agitator has been charged on terrorism accounts leading to his arrest by Finland authorities.

  • Simon Ekpa’s case does not affect Nnamdi Kanu’s case who is currently in custody.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a socio-political organization representing the Igbo people of Nigeria, has vowed to provide evidence of terrorism to prosecute Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa. The group said that this move would serve as a warning to those planning violent agitation in the Southeast region of the country.

According to the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ekpa’s arrest would not affect the ongoing case of Nnamdi Kanu, another Biafra agitator who is currently in custody.

Finnish authorities arrested Ekpa from his apartment in Lahti, but he was later released after being detained for a suspected crime. The Finnish Central Criminal Police confirmed his release on Thursday and said his arrest was connected to an ongoing preliminary investigation.

Isiguzoro stated that Ohanaeze would be willing to assist the Federal Government in providing the necessary evidence of terrorism to prosecute Ekpa.

He added that while Kanu never openly admitted responsibility for the killings in the Southeast, Ekpa had admitted to funding the violence in the region. Isiguzoro emphasized that Ekpa’s case was separate from Kanu’s, as Ekpa was arrested in Finland while Kanu was illegally kidnapped in Kenya.

The Ohanaeze Secretary-General noted that there was substantial evidence of Ekpa’s involvement in terrorist activities, and the group would provide this evidence to ensure his prosecution. He said that this would serve as a warning to others who might contemplate violent agitation in the region.

The Southeast region of Nigeria has witnessed a surge in violence and insecurity, with attacks on government facilities, security personnel, and civilians.
