“Our great party has agreed to work with PDP during the gubernatorial election of March 18, 2023,” Ojeshina said, directing all his supporters and members of the SDP to vote for the PDP on the election day.
However, Ojeshina clarified that the SDP House of Assembly candidates are still in the race. He added that the decision to withdraw his candidacy was made after due consultation with the leadership of the SDP in the state.
The Deputy Chairman of the SDP in Ogun, Shola Coker, corroborated Ojeshina’s statement, saying that the State Working Committee of the party had trust in Adebutu’s candidacy and believed that he would serve the interest of the masses in Ogun State.
The decision of Ojeshina to withdraw from the race is expected to boost the chances of the PDP in the gubernatorial election.
The PDP has been campaigning aggressively in the state, hoping to win the governorship seat from the incumbent, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
