Election: Femi Adesina Backs Peter Obi, Atiku On Legal Battle

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, on Thursday said “it is good that the challengers of the February 25 presidential election have gone to court”.

Writing in his weekly column, Adesina said rather than resort to self-help, which may lead to a breakdown of law and order, disgruntled presidential candidates of the 2023 election should “have their days” in court.

This newspaper reports that both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party respectively, have approached the court to challenge the outcome of the February 25 election which they alleged was marred by fraud and other irregularities. The election produced Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as president-elect.

“Proven infractions should be redressed, and rights of parties and candidates who wish to seek further redress in courts must be respected.

“As we all know, the then Candidate Buhari approached the courts after disputed polls of 2003, 2007, and 2011. He didn’t get the reliefs he sought, but by 2015, he won through the ballots cast.
