EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a press release on Monday, High Chief Kehinde Rotimi, State Chairman of the Labour Party in Kwara State, made it clear that the party will not form any alliance with other political parties for the upcoming gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
The party, he said, is focused on its core values and interests, which include wresting power from the incumbent party in government that has consistently failed to deliver good governance and the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

‘Vote Credible Candidates’ – CAN Tells Nigerians Ahead Of Guber Elections
“We came into the elections to contest and win, and we were not prepared and never conceived alliance with any political party,” Rotimi said, addressing the general public and the press. “Due to the abysmal poor performance of the incumbent government and the same for the party before it, we cannot and will not form any alliance with any political party by collapsing our structure with them as we are not a second fiddle party.”
Rotimi went on to dissociate the entire structure of the Labour Party in Kwara State from a recent press release by the gubernatorial candidate, who had aligned with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He emphasized that the candidate had acted in his own capacity and interest and that the party as a whole was committed to canvassing, supporting, and voting for all their candidates in the house of assembly elections.
“We, therefore, urge our teeming supporters to vote for them,” Rotimi said. “There was no time that we agreed to form a unity government with the PDP or any other political party in Kwara state. We remain resolute and committed to getting the stolen mandate of our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.”
Despite rumours peddled by political jobbers and propagandists before the presidential elections, Rotimi made it clear that the Labour Party in Kwara State has not engaged in any discussion with any political party, particularly the PDP, regarding forming any government of unity in the state.
