This comes as a huge surprise to fans, however Basketmouth promises to crack jokes from time to time albeit not professionally.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, professionally known as Basketmouth, has announced that he will be quitting comedy in five years. He disclosed this in an interview on Tuesday, where he said he has been floating for the past six years and intends to make every year count.
According to the father of three, he intends to focus on other projects, such as movies, series, and concert production. He also revealed that he wants to experience something new and be remembered for something other than comedy.

“Last year, I told myself and my team, you know what, I am going back to comedy. I want to do five years, and I am quitting. I am quitting in five years. I have got five years to do this, and I am done. I will still be cracking jokes, but it wouldn’t be a professional thing,” Basketmouth said.
Despite his decision to quit comedy, the talented comedian assured his fans that he would still be cracking jokes but on an informal basis. He further stated that he wanted to leave a lasting impact in the entertainment industry.
Basketmouth is a popular figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry and has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to comedy. He has won several awards, including the Savanna Pan-African Comic of the Year award in 2017, and has performed at various high-profile events both locally and internationally.
