No One Is Immune To Missing A Penalty — Mikel Arteta
-
Mikel Arteta does not want to hear about changing Arsenal’s penalty taker.
-
He missed a penalty in England’s crucial match at the Euros and was subjected to racist abuse, and now Bukayo Saka faces same after missing from the spot to leave Arsenal clinching to hope against Manchester City.
-
However Mikel Arteta stands firmly behind his star player as he defends Saka in his post match press conference.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that Bukayo Saka will continue as Arsenal’s penalty taker despite his costly miss in the game against West Ham on Sunday.
The young forward missed a crucial penalty during the 2-2 draw against the Hammers at the London Stadium. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Arteta defended Saka, stating that every penalty taker misses penalties and that he would still pick him as the team’s designated penalty taker.

Arteta said: “A player who takes penalties misses penalties, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t. If I had to pick one player to do it, it would be him again. In that moment we missed it and this is football.”
The miss was Saka’s first in the Premier League, having previously scored two penalties in the competition this season.
The 21-year-old has been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season and has been trusted with penalty-taking duties with the Arsenal star having scored from the spot in previous games to win the Gunners points.
